Zoom recording settings

Last updated: June 17, 2026

What this is

A switch on the Zoom card called Automatically enable cloud recording and transcripts. When it's on, Call-E sets your Zoom account so every meeting cloud-records and produces a transcript by default — not just the meetings you schedule through Call-E.

Where to find it

  1. Click your profile in the sidebar and choose Preferences.
  2. Scroll to the Zoom card.
  3. The Recording settings section sits between Limitations (if any) and the Zoom history import area.

What happens when it's on

  • Right after you connect Zoom — and any time you flip this switch on — Call-E turns on cloud recording at your Zoom account level, as long as your Zoom account supports cloud recording and your Zoom admin hasn't locked this setting. If it can't, Call-E tells you on the Zoom card.
  • After that, every Zoom meeting on this account starts cloud-recording automatically, unless your Zoom admin later locks these settings. That includes meetings you start in the Zoom app, meetings created from your Zoom scheduling link, and meetings booked outside Call-E.
  • When each meeting ends, Call-E downloads the recording and turns it into Call Notes and a transcript on the matching appointment.

The toggle is on by default.

How you know it saved

The Zoom card is the confirmation. When the setting saves, the Automatically enable cloud recording and transcripts switch stays in its new position and the card shows any recording-setting notice that still needs your attention.

Call-E does not send a separate success notification just because this setting saved. You may still see a notification or message if Zoom will not let Call-E apply the recording settings, if your Zoom connection has expired, or if Call-E could not finish the change.

What happens when it's off

  • Call-E won't change your Zoom account defaults.
  • For Zoom meetings that start without cloud recording on, Call-E has no recording to download — so no transcript, Call Notes, or Call Scorecard for those meetings.
  • Call-E still processes any meeting that was recorded; it just won't turn recording on for you.

Turn it off if you want to control your Zoom recording defaults yourself, or if your Zoom account is shared and the default needs to stay something else.

When the switch is disabled

If the switch is disabled, Call-E cannot turn on cloud recording for that Zoom account right now. The Zoom card explains why:

  • Your Zoom plan doesn't support cloud recording. You can still schedule Zoom meetings in Call-E, but Call-E will not capture a recording, transcript, Call Notes, or Call Scorecard from those meetings.
  • Cloud recording is turned off in your Zoom settings. Turn on cloud recording in Zoom, then come back to Call-E and reconnect Zoom.
  • Your Zoom recording settings are managed by your Zoom admin. Ask your Zoom admin to enable cloud recording for your account.
  • Call-E can't confirm whether this Zoom account supports cloud recording. Reconnect Zoom or check the Zoom card again. Until Call-E can confirm cloud recording, Zoom meetings on that account may not produce a recording, transcript, Call Notes, or Call Scorecard in Call-E.

"Your Zoom recording settings are managed by your Zoom admin"

If you see this notice under the switch, your Zoom admin manages recording settings on your account. Call-E can't override that.

What to do:

  • Ask your Zoom admin to enable cloud recording on your account, or to allow you to change that setting.
  • Once cloud recording is available, reconnect Zoom from Preferences so Call-E can check again.
