How Call-E records your calls in Live Call
Last updated: September 30, 2026
In one sentence
When you join a call in Live Call, Call-E records it for you — a status bar right under the video tells you what's happening, and you can turn recording off at any time.
What you'll see during a call
A status bar sits right under the video for the whole call. It always tells you what Call-E is doing (if you minimize the call, recording keeps going — the bar is there when you return to the full view):
- Call-E is recording this call — recording is on. The other person doesn't see a Zoom recording notice, so this bar is your reminder that the call is being recorded. Let your client know.
- Call-E is saving the recording… — the call ended and Call-E is saving what it captured. Give it a moment.
- Call-E saved this recording — done. Your transcript and Call Notes are on the way.
- Call-E is not recording — you turned recording off. This call will not be saved, and you'll get no notes for it.
- Call-E can't record this call — Call-E has no access to your microphone. Click Fix on the bar and follow the steps.
Turn recording off or on
Recording is on by default. During a call, click the power button on the bar to turn it off. Click it again to turn it back on.
If you turn recording off in the middle of a call that's already being recorded, Call-E asks what to do with the part it already has:
- Stop and keep — the part recorded so far is saved. You still get a transcript and Call Notes for it.
- Stop and delete — Call-E discards the recording. You won't get a transcript or Call Notes, and you can't get the recording back.
- Cancel — keep recording; nothing changes.
Turning recording off also turns it off for your next calls on this computer, until you switch it back on.
If you're wearing headphones
Call-E listens through your microphone. With speakers on, it can usually hear both you and your client. With headphones on, your client's voice goes into your ears — not into the recording — so the recording may only have your side of the conversation.
If Call-E notices you're using headphones, it shows a warning under the video. Switching to your speakers may help Call-E capture more of the conversation — or dismiss the warning if you're okay with it.
If Call-E can't use your microphone
The bar reads Call-E can't record this call and a short guide opens with steps for your browser. The steps differ depending on what's blocking the microphone:
- Your browser is blocking it — allow the microphone for Call-E in your browser's site settings, then reload the page and rejoin.
- Your computer is blocking it — allow your browser to use the microphone in your computer's privacy settings (System Settings on a Mac, Settings on Windows). Also close other apps that might be holding the microphone, like Zoom or Teams.
- No microphone found — plug one in, or check that your Bluetooth headset is connected.
After following the steps, click I've done this — check again in the guide.
