Set up your AI Notetaker
Last updated: July 17, 2026
What this does
The Notetaker section in Settings controls whether an AI notetaker joins your calls and what name it shows to everyone on the call.
Only Owners and Admins can change these settings. They apply to your whole organization.
Before you start
You need to be an Owner or Admin in your Call-E organization. If you don't see the Notetaker section on the Settings page, ask your organization Owner to check your role.
Turn the Notetaker on or off
- Open Settings from the main menu.
- Scroll to the Notetaker section.
- Click the Enable Notetaker toggle to turn it on or off. Call-E saves the change immediately.
If Call-E can't save the change, the toggle returns to its previous position and you see Couldn't update Notetaker. Please try again.
When Enable Notetaker is on, the AI notetaker joins your calls automatically to capture the recording and transcript. When it's off, the notetaker does not join — no recording or transcript is captured for those calls.
Change the Notetaker name
The Notetaker name is what participants see when the notetaker joins the call — for example, in the participant list.
- Open Settings from the main menu.
- Scroll to the Notetaker section.
- Click Edit.
- Type a name in the Notetaker name field.
- Click Save.
If you leave Notetaker name blank, Call-E uses your organization name followed by "Notetaker" — for example, "Sasquatch Strength Notetaker". To go back to this default at any time, clear the field and save.
What happens on calls
When Enable Notetaker is on:
- The AI notetaker joins each call a few seconds after it starts.
- It uses the name you set in Notetaker name (or the default name if the field is blank).
- After the call ends, Call-E processes the recording and transcript as usual.
When Enable Notetaker is off, the notetaker does not join. Calls will not have a recording, transcript, or Call Notes generated by Call-E.
