Live Call opened a Zoom tab instead of starting inside Call-E

What happened
You clicked to start a call inside Call-E, saw a message, and Zoom opened in a new browser tab instead of appearing inside the app. This is expected — Call-E opened the meeting for you automatically so you don't miss the call.
Why it happens
Live Call — the in-app Zoom experience — can't join every meeting. A few things cause this:
- The Zoom meeting has registration turned on.
- Your connected Zoom account is not yet supported for this meeting inside Call-E.
- The meeting still has Zoom's Waiting Room turned on — for example, you scheduled it yourself in Zoom, or your Zoom admin locked that setting.
When any of these happen, Call-E opens the regular Zoom join link in a new tab automatically instead, so you can join right away without any extra steps.
What the message means
You'll see one of these messages:
-
"This Zoom meeting requires registration, so Call-E can't join it inside the app. Use Open Zoom for this appointment, or create a new appointment with a new Zoom meeting." The Zoom meeting has registration turned on, which prevents Call-E from joining inside the app. Call-E already opened the regular Zoom link in a new tab for you — just continue there. To avoid this next time, use Join in Zoom from the appointment's ⋯ menu, or schedule a new appointment with a fresh Zoom meeting.
-
"This meeting can't run inside Call-E with your Zoom account yet — Call-E opened it in Zoom instead. Recording and Call Notes still work as usual." Your connected Zoom account is not yet supported for this meeting inside Call-E. Do not disconnect and reconnect Zoom just because this message appears. If Call-E Support invites you to the Zoom pilot, finish the call and close this Zoom window, then follow their instructions in Connect Zoom to Call-E. Call-E already opened the regular Zoom link in a new tab for you — just continue there.
Recording and Call Notes are unaffected, since they come from the Zoom meeting recording, not from joining inside Call-E.
What to do now
Just continue the call in the Zoom tab that opened. Call-E opened it for you automatically — no extra clicks needed.
After the call ends, Call-E still processes the appointment normally. If your Zoom account supports cloud recording and the meeting's recording contains enough speech, Call Notes appear in the appointment about 10 minutes after the call ends. A Call Scorecard also appears when the Call Type has a scorecard configured.
If Call-E said it opened Zoom but no tab appeared
If no new tab appeared, your browser probably blocked the popup. When that happens, you'll instead see a "Zoom couldn't connect inside Call-E…" message asking you to use Open Zoom on the appointment to join in Zoom.
- Look for a blocked-popup notice in your browser's address bar and allow popups for Call-E.
- Then click Join in Zoom from the appointment's ⋯ menu to open the meeting yourself.
